Making Toys

This week we were our own toy makers.  Both Camp Creativity and the library had activities scheduled for that, so we took advantage and made some toys on our own.  Camp Creativity had us create our own paper dice, which was a review of numbers, and a spinner we used to create the illusion of the bird in the cage.  At the library, we built juggling balls out of sand and balloons, and decorated a CD with a button glued on to create a top.  We used our Magic School Bus science kit to inspire more fun this week, and created a foil speed boat, compared bubbles made with and without soap, and mixed Borax and glue to create slime and bouncy balls.  While we were playing with water, we gathered some items and guessed which would float and which would sink.  Then we tested our hypothesis.

We enjoyed storytimes this week, and met a friend to play after it.  Tobias tried the balance beam out this week, and Genevieve had great fun doing headstands in her obstacle course at gymnastics.  We also read Seven Wonders of the Sun and Stars this week as we started talking about the upcoming eclipse.  We are planning an eclipse party so she's been tracking the moon.  She also used shaving cream to create some nebula and supernova.
